It all starts with an idea

Why Cozy Cottages?

At Cozy Cottages, we pride ourselves on the superior quality and durability of our expandable shipping container homes. With over a decade of experience in manufacturing, we have continually adapted our designs to meet the challenging conditions of the Australian environment. While many shipping container homes may look similar at first glance, it is the materials and construction methods that set ours apart. Investing in a cheaper version may seem like a bargain initially, but the cost of repairs and maintenance can quickly add up, making it a less economical choice in the long run. Here’s why our construction stands out:

Floors

The materials used for the flooring are a critical factor in determining the price and quality of a container home. We use MGO (magnesium oxide), commonly known as compressed fibro. This material is impervious to water, meaning it can withstand floods and prolonged exposure to moisture without warping or deteriorating. Unlike other materials that rot, swell, or change shape, MGO maintains its integrity. Additionally, MGO is resistant to rodents, ants, and other pests, providing an extra layer of protection. During the recent mice plague, inferior flooring materials were easily chewed through, but our MGO floors remained intact.

Electrical Systems

Our units are designed to be forward-compatible, accommodating up to 50 amps with a 10mm mains connection. This makes them ideal for solar integration, ensuring that our electrical systems meet stringent Australian standards. You can rely on our electrical setup for safety, reliability, and future-proofing.

Windows

We use double-glazed glass for our windows, which provides excellent soundproofing and insulation. Unlike Perspex, which can crack under harsh conditions and offers poor insulation, our double-glazed windows are built to last. They maintain a comfortable indoor environment regardless of external temperatures and noise levels.

Window Frames

Our window frames are crafted from high-quality aluminum, chosen for its durability and resistance to weathering. Some manufacturers use plastic window frames coated with a material that resembles aluminum foil; these frames can crack in the sun and leak over time. In contrast, our aluminum frames ensure longevity and structural integrity.

Bathrooms

Our bathrooms are a standout feature, designed with spaciousness and functionality in mind. They include a full-sized shower, ample enough for assisted showering or for using a shower chair. Unlike capsule-style bathrooms, which are cramped and uncomfortable for most adults, our bathrooms offer a comfortable and practical solution. We also provide provisions for installing a washing machine under the sink, complete with waste, power, and water outlets.

Instruction Manual

We provide a comprehensive instruction manual with each unit, detailing every step of the assembly process. This ensures that your unit is set up correctly, avoiding common pitfalls that can arise from improper construction. Cheaper, backyard units often lack such documentation, leading to costly mistakes and inefficiencies.

Spare Parts

Our commitment to customer satisfaction extends to our extensive inventory of spare parts. Should you need to replace windows, doors, sliders, locks, or other components, we have everything you need readily available. In contrast, cheaper units may lack access to replacement parts, rendering them useless when repairs are needed.

Quality Control

Every Cozy Cottage undergoes rigorous inspection prior to delivery, ensuring that all aspects meet our high standards for quality, safety, and functionality. Unlike units sold directly off the boat, which bypass quality checks, our homes are thoroughly vetted to prevent any issues that could arise from unchecked defects.

Choose Cozy Cottages for reliable, high-quality expandable shipping container homes built to withstand Australia’s diverse and demanding environments. Our dedication to excellence in construction ensures that your investment is protected and your home is built to last.
